Keybook photograph of Mary Pickford at the Pickford-Fairbanks Studio timeclock. Typewritten snipe attached on verso reads, “At last Mary Pickford. Most famous of ‘em all. Has come to it. She punches the clock now just like everybody else at her new studio. What’s more, she gets on the job bright and early every once in a while and gives the rest of ‘em a surprise. And she finds out who the early birds are, just the way other employers do. Mary bosses a hundred employes; that includes her studio force and executive staff. 7100 Santa Monica Blvd. between Formosa & Poinsettia - L.A." Incidentally, a unidentified clipping featuring the photo has a more worthy caption that reads, “If you hate to get up early in the morning and rush to punch a time clock, just console yourself with the assurance that Mary Pickford is doing it, too; at least, so we are informed.” ca. 1922
