Mary Pickford hand-signed airmail envelope, postmarked June 8, 1930 / Inglewood, California, and additionally stamped “Los Angeles Airport.” This piece is associated with the dedication of Los Angeles Municipal Airport, formerly known as Mines Field and today known as Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Mary Pickford formally dedicated the airport on June 7, 1930, with additional festivities held on June 8.



Douglas Fairbanks hand-signed airmail envelope, postmarked June 7, 1930 / Inglewood, California, and additionally stamped both “Los Angeles Airport” and "Earle Ovington-Santa Barbara." This piece is associated with the dedication of Los Angeles Municipal Airport, formerly known as Mines Field and today known as Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Mary Pickford formally dedicated the airport on June 7, 1930, with additional festivities held on June 8. Of added intrigue, the envelope is additionally hand-signed by Earle Ovington who flew the first U.S. Airmail flight in 1911.
